State Quarter Series Comes To An End

Nov 29th, 2008 | By CollectOs | Category: Coins and Banknotes

The release of the Hawaii state quarters in November marked the end of the US Mint’s 10-year state quarter program.

According to the US Department of Treasury, the Coinage Act passed by Congress back in 1792 gave us our first Mint building, built in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Today, the Philadelphia and Denver Mints often produce millions of coins for circulation in just 24 hours.

Fun for all ages, the United States Mint state quarter program began in 1999 and breathed new life into the coin industry, from the serious numismatist to the pocket change collector. Latest additions to Sierra Enterprises Internet Store include the 2008 uncirculated state quarters Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii. All 50 states are now available at our website in uncirculated condition, Denver (D) and Philadelphia (P) mint marks. Plush American Coin bears representing Delaware and Tennessee are cuddly soft, each sporting an embroidered outline of their state and housing their state quarter in a protective case on the bottom of the bear’s foot. Foreign coins can also be found at Sierra Enterprises Internet Store, as well as commemorative coins.
