Toy Collector Magazine: April issue of now available

Apr 2nd, 2008 | By admin | Category: Magazines

The full-color, all-digital April 2008 issue of Toy Collector Magazine, which is packed with exciting articles and timely toy-auction information, is now available to view online or download as a PDF at www.toycollectormagazine.com.

The Cover Story: Rare and well-preserved Hubley cast-iron vehicles have been rocketing in value at auction. TCM visits with Hubley expert Bob Brady to get the inside info on a famous Pennsylvania company that replicated American transportation from horse-drawn carriages and early autos to work trucks and Indian motorcycles. Check out pictures of seldom-seen Hubley toys and read about one of the most unusual productions ever to roll off the company’s production line: The cylindrically shaped Life Savers delivery truck.

Next we take you off to New York and Toy Fair 2008. TCM’s Chuck Miller has filed a great report on the latest toys and managed to interview and photograph a few celebrities who were there, as well, including Australia Zoo’s Terri Irwin, and Dancing with the Stars favorite Marie Osmond.

Looking back, our newest writer, Walt Hiteshew, explores the colorfully primitive and still-affordable vintage tinplate trains made by Joy Line. Another classic category, Fisher-Price toys continue to delight new generations of boys and girls. Sharon Verbeten talks about what’s rare and rising in value, with lots of big, colorful pics of recent auction sellers.

Also in the April issue, you won’t want to miss G.R. Webster’s authoritative article on the DUX Stuka, a best-selling postwar toy based on an infamous German divebomber; and J.C. Vaughn’s report on the new wave of Conan the Barbaian collectibles.
