If eBay might be any indicator of the U.S. election results, it looks like Barack Obama is way ahead of the game. At least he is in campaign memorabilia. As the primaries continue, thousands of buyers are gobbling up campaign memorabilia in hopes of ending up with some historic and valuable items, while sellers are busy cashing in on items they collected all throughout the campaign.

Yesterday morning at around 8:50 a.m. CST, eBay’s completed listings report indicated Senator Barack Obama had 4,849 completed sales and 2,286 items still currently available. His opponents’ numbers are less impressive.

Hillary Clinton comes in second with 3,024 completed sales and 1,477 items available. Completed sales for John McCain political memorabilia totaled 1,230 items with only 646 items currently being offered.

Obama also leads the way in the highest price paid category. On February 13, 2008, a buyer paid $5,900 for a Shepard Fairey signed and hand numbered 24” x 36 “Progress” print from an edition of 350.

A winning bid of $2,000 on February 14, 2008 was the highest recorded price showing this morning on eBay’s completed sales for Senator Hillary Clinton, while $305 on February 5, 2008, was paid for a baseball signed by Senator John McCain as he campaigned in central Florida.
