“Claremont”: Chelsea Ship’s Clock & Barometer (1925-1929)

 The CollectOs-Object of the Week is this beautiful Chelsea Ship’s Clock w/ Barometer.  It is the so called “Claremont” model. 

Serial # 191907.  Circa 1925-1929.  It’s 100% original , complete, and in excellent physical and working condition.  It does come with an original Chelsea winding key. The dimensions are, H-8.5″, W-15″ and D-3.25″.

The clock’s dial is 3.75″ in diameter. On the back plate of the mechanism it reads; ( CHELSEA CLOCK CO., BOSTON. U.S.A., PATENTED OCT25,1898, SEPT 19, 1898, JUNE 5, 1900.  ALSO, PATENT IN GREAT BRITAIN, May 21, 2000 ). The bronze and brass case is in excellent condition. This unique timepiece runs for 8 days while striking (ship’s bells).  It has a great sounding chime.  The silver plated dial is in great condition for a clock this old. It has some minor aging and a nice patina. The glass on each piece is original and is scratch/chip free.  The French barometer is in working order also.
